My Review of the Single

"Aru Machi no Gunjou" is AKG’s first single since the release of the album "Feedback File". This single has been highly anticipated by many fans since it will be featured in the upcoming anime movie, Tetsukon Suji Crete. Surprisingly though, it only recieved 87 anticipation points in the Ninki survey by Oricon. Past releases by AKG has scored over 100.

After an initial listening, I found the single to be quite decent. It opens with the song "Aru Machi no Gunjou". The song is quite different from any AKG tune produced thus far. It has a very mature sound, great drumming by Ijichi, and a complex arrangement that varies in rhythm and tempo. Gotoh’s vocals are quite superb too, making this a great track.

Track two of the single is titled "Kugenama Surf". Kugenama is an actual location in Japan that is famous for surfing and so this song has a surfing theme to it. Unlike a lot of AKG’s recent songs, "Kugenama Surf" has a very playful melody and lyrics. Unfortunately, the song is extremely short (only 2 minutes, 49 seconds)! This makes the entire single quite short in length, which is a bit disappointing.

Single Track Listing

1. Aru Machi no Gunjou - 9/10
Great song! It starts with a slow tempo and quickly picks up the pace after a small introduction. This song will be amazing in the Tetsukon Suji Crete movie. It’s melody has a very mature sound that will appeal to a large audience.

2. Kugenama Surf - 7/10
This song is way too short! In addition, although it has some great lyrics, it is just an average song.
