My Review of the CD
Heres a review that many fans have been eagerly waiting for! Its been five months since AKG has released anything new!
Blue Train marks the beginning of studio time for AKG.
Blue Train is AKGs longest single with four full length tracks! The first track,
Blue Train, has a very reminiscent feel to it. This song is also important because for the first time, Ijichi really has the spotlight. The single then transitions to the songs
Road Movie and
Tobenai Sakana. The pace picks up quite a bit with these songs and has AKGs great punk rock feel. Last on the single is
Gekkou.
Gekkou, is perhaps the greatest and most inventive song on this single. Yamada begins the song by playing the beginning of
Claire de Lune by Debussy. The song then transitions to the guitars as they play a beautiful melody. This song is really the highlight of the entire single :) I would have named the single after this song.
Overall, I must say I was impressed with this single. It really highlights the talents of Ijichi and Yamada for the first time in a long time. After listening to these songs, I know AKG will have a spectacular future ahead of them. Their experimentation has pulled off and their songs are becoming more inventive and unique! Below is a in depth analysis of each song and samples to listen to :D
Track Listing
1. Blue Train - 8/10
This song reminds me a lot of
Siren and
Blackout. It has a laid back feel to it and also focuses a lot on the drums. Ijichis talents are really highlighted in this song, which is great to see for a change.
Road Movie - 7/10
Fairly good song. The tempo is more upbeat and Gotoh puts a lot of emotion into the chorus. You can also hear Ijichi experimenting a lot more with the drums in this song.
Tobenai Sakana - 8/10
This song has a nice punk rock feel to it. I like it a bit more than
Road Movie. The song also reminds me of some of AKGs older songs from
Kimitsunagi Five M and
Time and Past I Couldnt See You Again.
Gekkou - 10/10!
This song is absolutely beautiful! Yamada plays the introduction which is a excerpt from the song
Claire de Lune by the composer, Debussy. The song then transitions to the guitars. Its so hard to describe this song. It has a amazing melody to it and Gotoh does a great job with the vocals. Youll just have to listen to the sample to understand :)
