Overview

The Document Graph 2004 Summer book is basically a documentary of Asian Kung-Fu Generation's activity in Summer 2004. The book includes information and pictures from their Nano-Iro Electric Tour, several festivals, and other live performances. While this was released a year ago, it has been virtually impossible to get until now. For reasons unclear, mostly only those who pre-ordered the book last year ever recieved it. Many online stores like YesAsia claimed to have the item, yet when push came to shoove, they could never find a copy to sell. The good news is that the book is finally being sold again. Now let us move forward to my review :)

My Review

I accidently stumbled upon this book recently on the HMV online store and was surprised to actually recieve it a few days later! The book is 192 pages long! 82 of those pages contain documentaries about 30 summer activities AKG did, while 110 pages are full blown pictures. Some of the main activities covered include AKG's participation in the Rock in Japan Festival, Rush Ball 2004, Nano-Mugen Festival, Meet the World Beat, Fuji Rock Festival, and Treasure 052! Needless to say, this is a awesome resource for all AKG fans :D

Overall the pictures are absolutely spectacular! You'll find photos ranging from live concerts, festivals, AKG just hanging out, and AKG with some of their favorite bands (ie. Ellegarden, Going Under Ground, Straightner, Rip Slyme, etc...). My favorite photo is of Gotoh singing. The lighting is hitting his glasses just right, to illuminate his entire face. Its really beautiful and you can view a very small version of it below! My only complaint with the photos is that about 5 are very grainy in resolution. I'm not sure if it is just my copy or perhaps the photos themselves. Besides that small criticism, this book rocks! Although 82 pages of writing sounds like a lot, it really isn't in comparison to the amount of pictures. If you don't know Japanese, no worries! There are enough pictures to keep your attention for hours on end. Some pages feature only one large size photo, while others will have as many as 8 small ones! I give this book two thumbs up!

Where to Buy it?

I've tried several online stores like YesAsia, but HMV is the first to actually fullfill my order so I recommend them!
